Abstract

In this paper some results concerning to researches completed by the Photonics and Opto-electronics Group of the National University of Colombia, Medellín campus, are shown. Firstly, a brief account of the creation of the group and the main applications in fiber optic technology are given, which situate to the Group as one of the most reputable Universitary group in Latin-American. Applications of fiber Bragg gratings sensor technology, computational simulation of optical waveguide, and fiber laser are shown.
