Abstract

ARIAS, MARIO et al. ENGINEERING ASPECTS OF THE IN VITRO PLANT CELL CULTURE FOR THE PRODUCTION OF SECONDARY METABOLITES. Dyna rev.fac.nac.minas [online]. 2009, vol.76, n.157, pp.109-121. ISSN 0012-7353.

ABSTRACT: Plants are an important source of metabolites that have been used as medicines, pesticides, flavors and fragrances. In order to obtain those compounds without growing the whole plant, the in vitro culture technology (callus, suspensions and organs) has been proposed. In this work, some engineering aspects of the plant cell culture concerning the production of secondary metabolites are discussed.

Keywords : Plant cell culture; secondary metabolites; scale up; modeling; immobilization.
