Abstract

DAVILA RINCON, JAVIER; MARRIAGA CABRALES, NILSON  and  MACHUCA MARTINEZ, FIDERMAN. TOTAL SOLID REMOVAL OF VINASSE BY ELECTROCOAGULATION - ELECTROFLOTATION. Dyna rev.fac.nac.minas [online]. 2009, vol.76, n.158, pp.41-47. ISSN 0012-7353.

This article presents the results obtained in the treatment of vinasse from an alcohol distillery through a process of electrocoagulation - electroflotatión. Operating variables such as initial pH of the solution, current density and concentration of NaCl, as supporting electrolyte, were evaluated in a 23 factorial design using aluminum electrodes in a monopolar arrangement. The results show that this technique could be effective in vinasse concentration process. It achieved a 37% of total solids removal with no supporting electrolyte.

Keywords : Ethanol; concentration of vinasse; electrocoagulation; electroflotation.
