Abstract

Innovation is fundamental for competitive business, making it important to study in academia. However few studies have explored the state of research in the field of innovation in the Latin American context. This work study the case of two countries, Colombia and Mexico , from studies published in scientific journals. The information comes from databases as Latindex, Redalyc and SciELO. The study shows efforts to formulate public policies that encourage knowledge generation and innovation development, the findings show informal innovation processes, unplanned, often aimed at the imitation, defensive strategies and poor performance in activities of license plate. In the methodological is observed emphasis in empirical work with emerging developments of explanatory type and limited use of techniques for quantitative analysis.
