Abstract

ARISTIZABAL-ALZATE, Carlos Esteban. Numerical determination of the solubility of vitamin C in various solvents, for selective extraction or for its incorporation in formulations oriented to care, welfare and health of the skin. Dyna rev.fac.nac.minas [online]. 2016, vol.83, n.199, pp.191-197. ISSN 0012-7353.  https://doi.org/10.15446/dyna.v83n199.54828.

Vitamin C has excellent antioxidant properties and its use in topical formulations brings many benefits to the skin. For these reasons and the strong global trend to develop natural products base, the industry uses fruit pulps rich in this component for the development of products for the care and welfare of the skin. This article focuses on determining the Hansen Parameters of this vitamin, which are found by the use of group contribution methods then compare them with the same parameters of solvents or mixtures thereof and so, it could estimate numerically which or what would be the best solvents for extraction of the organic compound of a biomass and/or for incorporation into pharmaceutical, cosmeceutical, cosmetic formulations, among others.

Keywords : Vitamin C; Solvent; Hansen parameters; Group contribution method; Solubility.
