Abstract

ARENCIBIA-MORALES, Annia; FEBLES-RODRIGUEZ, Juan Pedro  and  FROMETA-MORENO, Yoiler Joaquín. Application of pattern recognition to identify the similarity between drugs taking into account adverse reactions. Dyna rev.fac.nac.minas [online]. 2017, vol.84, n.201, pp.195-201. ISSN 0012-7353.  https://doi.org/10.15446/dyna.v84n201.57060.

The drugs are widely used today, they can cause some adverse drug reaction (ADR); to manifest in a patient, medical personnel should be capable of change the drug for a substitute with equal effectiveness on the disease. This task is performed manually, consulting the National Drugs Formulary, which has no similarity between drugs. To identify these similarities, Pattern Recognition techniques were used, the drugs were grouped by RAM that they cause, by LC-Conceptual algorithm. This technique allows to know the similarity between the causative drug RAM and the set of alternate drugs, attending the RAM that they cause, facilitating the prescription of them.

Keywords : adverse drug reaction; pattern recognition; similarity.
