APOLO-MATAMOROS, Edison Oswaldo y GUERRERO RUEDA, William Javier. Designing a microtransit system with electric vehicles using discrete-event simulation: case of a university campus. Dyna rev.fac.nac.minas [online]. 2021, vol.88, n.219, pp.237-246. Epub 15-Mar-2022. ISSN 0012-7353. https://doi.org/10.15446/dyna.v88n219.94927.
This work presents a flexible methodology to design a microtransit system with electric vehicles. The proposed methodology comprises five stages. First, the estimation of the demand is made with qualitative research. Second, the technological capabilities of the potential means of transportation are compared. Third, we characterize the different possible routes for micro-transit for each of the technological options and choose the best option, by considering the needs of the user. This is achieved through a decision-making tool and a discreteevent simulation model that represents the operation of the system. Finally, we evaluate the environmental impact generated by this new mean of transport on a micro-transit route. The proposed methodology is flexible and can be applied both in public and private microtransit systems. We present a case study to validate the results of the methodology on a university campus in Colombia.
