Student permanence rates decrease, and control is one of the greatest concerns of Higher Education Institutions for the fulfillment of their missionary processes. To mitigate the problem, different alternatives, methods, and methodologies have been proposed that support students without making a significant change in their perception of learning, therefore, making use of new technological trends and videogames interest, a strategy has been implemented that combines the courses teaching themes in a fun way as is the case of serious games. In accordance with the above, the purpose of this research is to carry out a systematic literature review (SLR) of those relevant studies that have considered the use of serious games in the reduction of dropout, to carry out their respective analysis and finally, to generate some conclusions regarding this topic.
