Abstract

CUARTAS CALLE, Adriana María. Prediction of spontaneous preterm delivery. Rev Colomb Obstet Ginecol [online]. 2002, vol.53, n.4, pp.341-354. ISSN 0034-7434.

Prediction of preterm delivery. There is a huge need to find effective measurements for the detection and intervention of preterm labor in order to decrease the new born morbidity and high costs derived from the attention of preterm new born. Regarding this need and with the presence of cervical-uterine ultrasonography, it is necessary to review some concepts, such as: risks factors, the variation of cervix during pregnancy, the measurement of cervical length by transvaginal ultrasound, the variation of cervix through the gestation, the value of fibronectin and other tests that may help in the detection of preterm labor.

Keywords : Preterm labor; cervical length ultrasonography; fibronectin.
