Adolescent pregnancy is motive of important worrying not only for personal but also for the social implications that it has. Objective: to describe the obstetrics and perinatal results of the patients attended from June 2000 to October 2001 at the H.U.S.V.P in Medellin, Colombia. Material and methods: It’s a descriptive study with data obtained from the data system of Obstetrician and Gynecology Department of Universidad de Antioquia. Results: 28,6% of patients were teenagers, a quarter of them had repetitive pregnancies; an important percent of patients didn’t have prenatal control. 53,6% of teenagers had less severe pre eclampsia, but more eclampsia than adults did. Premature rupture of membranes was more usual in teenagers. Third trimester bleeding and gestational diabetes were more frequent in adult women. The percent of ceasarean section was less in adolescents. Low weight babies and prematurity were more frequent in teenagers. 5,4% of adolescents and 3,6% of adults had postpartum maternal complications. Conclusions: teenagers presented: eclampsia, preterm delivery, premature rupture of the membranes, low weight birth, prematurity, postnatal complications, and surgical wound with more frequency, while adults showed up with third trimester bleeding, gestational diabetes and caesarean section.
