Abstract
ORTIZ SERRANO, Ricardo; URIBE PEREZ, Claudia Janeth; DIAZ MARTINEZ, Luis Alfonso and . Risk factors for uterine cervical cancer. Rev Colomb Obstet Ginecol [online]. 2004, vol.55, n.2, pp.146-160. ISSN 0034-7434.
Cervical cancer is one of the most frequent neoplasms and one of the most common causes of death among women of reproductive age in the world. These figures are paradoxical if we consider that uterine cervix is easily accessible and that there are proven strategies to early diagnosis and effective treatments. In this paper we provide a detailed review of the epidemiology of cervical cancer, with emphasis on related risk factors associated with carcinogenesis and delayed diagnosis.
Keywords : cervical cancer; intracervical neoplasm; Pap smear; human papilloma virus.
