Diagnostic test evaluation studies represent a scientific design helping to determine the validity and reliability of the procedures which can be used in clinical practice by doctors and other health professionals. This article deals with medical training in epidemiology. Its objectives are summarizing concepts used when evaluating a new diagnostic test and explaining how to calculate and interpret the measurements used making a design with naturalistic sampling, emphasizing the meaning of test sensitivity, specificity and predictive value.
