Consquences of the boom of biológical model-emerging from the development of neuroscientific investigation-in currentpsychiatry are discussed. Risks offalling into a newreductionism are weighedagainstresulting advantages, like bettertreatments oreven disappearance ofthe stigma of mental illness. It is observed that, in contrast to the trends of science, a rare popular interest in magics, grotesque or occult aspects is arising. All kinds of practica, folklore therapeutics are now in vogue. A future where a probable oscilation towards its opposite view is foreseen, seems to be an inevitable constituent in the development ofscientific knowledge.
