CAMPO-CABAL, GERARDO. PSICHOPATHOLOGY IN UNIVERSITY STUDENTS. Rev. colomb. psiquiatria [online]. 2001, vol.30, n.4, pp.351-358. ISSN 0034-7450.
Twenty-one students from a Health Academic Program, Universidad del Valle, Cali, Colombia, were assessed through clinical history, a structured interview (CIDI-2), Zung depression and anxiety Scales, and Social Adaptation Selfevaluation Scale. Three quarters of this sample exhibitd some type of psychopathology in the clinical evaluation. 66.6 % of the students nevealed depression and/or anxiety in both Zung scales. Correlation between deficient social adjustment and anxious disorder was found. Prevalence of depression in this group was similar to data from international research. In this sample, the high prevalence of psychopathology was not related with the student´s academic perfomance.
