This is a study of stress in aged adults who have a psychiatric illness. It is a descriptive statistical field study, to objectively assess risk factors in institutional old aged patients. Results corroborate presence of stress generating factors in the population studied. Biological, psychological and social categories are identified, with emphasis on cognitive evaluation of stressing events, and the diverse strategies to confront them.
