^les^aEl objetivo de este artículo es compartir algunas ideas y prácticas que sobresalen cuando se construye la relación terapéutica en una cultura latinoamericana, luego de tener en cuenta en nuestras conversaciones las diferencias de clase social, raza, educación y etnia que existen entre terapeuta y consultante, y que se hacen evidentes desde el primer momento. Los problemas vividos por nuestros consultantes señalan un amplio espectro de matices de creencias, símbolos y mitos familiares, sociales y culturales, que se han entrelazado en la evolución del problema. Así, exploramos los problemas de nuestros consultantes a la luz de su historia y cultura particular, y mostramos la participación de los seres cercanos, con sus mitos y los discursos y prácticas del entorno que dan sentido a sus éxitos y fracasos.^len^aThe purpose of this article is to share some of the beliefs and practices that stand out when a therapeutic relationship is built in a Latin-American culture, after taking into account in our conversations the differences in social class, race, education and ethnicity that exist between therapist and consultant and that are evident from the start. The problems lived by our consultants show an ample spectrum of cultural and social beliefs, symbols and family myths, that have become twined in the evolution of the problem. So we explore the problems of our consultants in the light of their particular history and culture and we show the participation of close ones, with their myths and the discourses and practices of the environs that give meaning to their successes and failures.
