Abstract

Introduction: Analysis by intention to treat is frequently recommended and used in Randomized Controlled Trials (RCT). Objective: To briefly review the strategy of analysis based on Intention to Treat in randomized controlled trials, and highlight its importance and effect on study results. Results: Explanations on the topic are given and some examples are exposed for comprehension of this topic in psychiatry. Conclusion: It is important to take into account this type of analysis when conducting an RCT in order to minimize bias.
