SANCHEZ PEDRAZA, Ricardo; TEJADA NEIRA, Paola Andrea  e  GUZMAN SABOGAL, Yahira. Intentional Violent Deaths in Bogotá, 1997-2005: Gender Differences. rev.colomb.psiquiatr. [online]. 2008, vol.37, n.3, pp.316-329. ISSN 0034-7450.

Introduction: Intentional deaths are still a frequent cause of mortality worldwide. Several studies have reported differences in violent deaths between men and women. Methods: An ecological study using the Box-Jenkins methodology time series analysis was implemented to evaluate the trends of this kind of deaths in a period of 8 years and compare the tendencies between genders. Results: the results suggest that violent deaths are more frequent in men and homicides show a seasonal pattern. There is a decreasing tendency in the frequency of homicides except for women’s suicide group, where it has been stable. Conclusion: This behavior could generate, in the long term, the loss of frequency differences among men and women.
