Abstract

GARCIANDIA IMAZ, José Antonio  and  SAMPER ALUM, Jeannette. Family Therapy In The Transgenerational Re-signifying of Incest. rev.colomb.psiquiatr. [online]. 2010, vol.39, n.1, pp.134-152. ISSN 0034-7450.

Introduction: This article is based on a process of family therapy, and describes the efforts made by the family to re-signify painful past experiences in order to transcend the effects of incest and re-orient the sexual behaviors of future generations. Objective: Stemming from an incestuous, traumatic event in the third generation of a family, a therapy is provided in which family members can look at their past in order to create new stories and ways of moving forward. Method: Qualitative analysis of a therapeutic process dealing with transgenerational issues. Result and Conclusion: Incest is more than a situational event. It is an experience that is connected to cultural, historical and generational events and meanings.

Keywords : Incest; family; family therapy.
