Public health prevention programs have diminished the incidence of injuries and fatal events among young population involved in traffic accidents in Bogotá-Colombia. These programs are based in the application of the Haddon´s matrix. The results and theoretical aspects of the prevention of injuries based in government policies of Secretaría Distrital de Salud , Secretaría de Tránsito y Transporte de Bogotá- Colombia and El Fondo de Previsión Vial Nacional, are reviewed.
