Background. Previously in Colombia, there were no attempts to explore and to document the possibility of employing a classification system, like the ICF-CY, as a way to facilitate the scholar inclusion process for people with intellectual disability. Objective. To build a tool, based on ICY-CY, aimed to determine a functional profile of students, useful in educative contexts, describing the elements and characteristics of this tool, in aim to contribute with the scholar inclusion for students with intellectual disability in Bogotá, Colombia Materials and methods. The present study is descriptive and qualitative. It's aimed to a population of students with intellectual disability in secondary school. The study had two stages: one documental and other systematizing the tool. Results. It was designed a tool to make functional profiles of students with disability. It has applicability in scholar contexts, is easy to use and understand, and takes into account the support required by the student. Conclusion. People are not subjects of classification but their needs are. It's necessary to know these needs, in order to create policies and programs responding on a more efficient way with them.
