Abstract
BARON, Alberto and PAEZ-MOYA, Sylvia. Cardiovascular repercussions of obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS). rev.fac.med. [online]. 2017, vol.65, suppl.1, pp.39-46. ISSN 0120-0011. https://doi.org/10.15446/revfacmed.v65n1Sup.59666.
In the population of subjects with obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome, associated cardiovascular clinical entities have been described, affecting the course and prognosis of the condition. Such descriptions include arterial hypertension, arrhythmias, coronary disease, heart failure, pulmonary hypertension and venous thromboembolism.
The pathophysiological mechanisms of these associations, their prevalence and impact are further discussed since they affect the course of the disease and, therefore, its severity; these entities play a very important role in decision making at the moment of offering the best management in each case, which must be approached in a multidisciplinary way.
