Resumen
VIALE, CLAUDIO MARCELO. Sacred/Profane. The Durkheimian Aspect of William James's Philosophy of Religion. Ideas y Valores [online]. 2013, vol.62, n.151, pp.57-79. ISSN 0120-0062.
The purpose of this article is to demonstrate the existence of a Durkheimian aspect in William James' philosophy of religion, an aspect that has gone unnoticed in the usual interpretations of his work. To this effect, the article shows how Durkheim's prototypical distinction between sacred and profane underlies The Varieties of Religious Experience as an essential feature of religion.
