Abstract

ALARCON, Víctor. The "reconstruction" of the antinomy between belief and rationality: from the prophetic symbol to the madness of preaching. Ideas y Valores [online]. 2016, vol.65, suppl.2, pp.95-106. ISSN 0120-0062.  https://doi.org/10.15446/ideasyvalores.v65n2supl.55154.

The article analyzes the fundamental problem raised by Christianity in Paul of Tarsus' efforts to universalize the message of faith beyond the limitations inherent in reason ("Greeks look for wisdom") and in the sign ("Jews demand signs"). It discusses how the Pauline tradition opts for the "madness of preaching" as Christianity's means to achieve salvation by way of the "folly of the Cross".

Keywords : Paul of Tarsus; religious belief; Christianity; religion.
