Abstract

BARRIENTOS-RASTROJO, José. Understanding through Words or through Experience Is an Experiential Approach to Beuchot’s Analogy Possible?. Ideas y Valores [online]. 2017, vol.66, n.165, pp.267-296. ISSN 0120-0062.  https://doi.org/10.15446/ideasyvalores.v66n165.55434.

The article discusses the epistemology or grounds of interpretation. Traditionally, there has been a debate between those who interpret analytically, using concepts, ideas, and words, and those who do so on the basis of life and hold that words limit the understanding of certain realities. Mauricio Beuchot defends an intermediate point of view based on analogy. The article argues that this interpretation remains within the analytical framework, and that it is possible to go beyond that and adopt an experiential approach to the analogy. This approach constitutes a new model of interpretation that combines the two above-mentioned epistemological conceptions.

Keywords : M. Beuchot; analogy; experience; hermeneutics; interpretation.
