In this article we intend to analyze the position of Hans Jonas in relation to the so-called development theories, placing him among the critics of the idea of economic growth, although not among the technophobes. To this end, we will begin by briefly reviewing the main flourishing developmental currents in the postwar period and, based on The Imperative of Responsibility, we will present Jonas's criticisms articulated with his political proposal for a rebalancing between rich and poor countries in relation to the issue of growth.
