Abstract
MARIN ARIAS, Juan Pablo; VALENCIA MUNOZ, Luz Yenci and RENDON CARDONA, Lina María. MACROSEISMIC ANALYSIS OF THE MURINDÓ-ANTIOQUIA EARTHQUAKE (COLOMBIA) OCTOBER 1992. bol.geol. [online]. 2009, vol.31, n.1, pp.85-93. ISSN 0120-0283.
The macroseismic study of the Murindó earthquake (October 18, 1992) has been carried out according to the Shebalín methodology ((1974). The seismic event affected the Urabá Antioqueño region and the epicentre was tracked down in the eastern part of the municipality of Murindó with an estimated maximum intensity of Xº (MM). The direction of maximum elongation traced by the rupture model shows great concordance with the dipping and azimuth data of the Murindó fault proposed by authors such as Montes and Sandoval (2001) and Paris et al. (2000), which is associated as the generator of the seismic event.
Keywords : Macroseismic field; intensity; macroseismic parameters; azimuthal attenuation; rupture model.
