Abstract

By the integration and structural analysis of geological maps, DEM images, bibliographic information, well data, and 2D seismic lines, five contemporary seismic sequences were identified in the footwall and hanging blocks of the Honda Fault. From the interpretation of DEM images and structural data, cross-sections were generated in depth, along with fault slip profiles, to determine the orientation, geometric features, compartmentalization, shortening, and kinematics of the Honda Fault. Along its 103 km of length, the surface of this fault presents three sections with different thrust slip, related to a NWW-SEE orientation of the maximum horizontal stress. The Honda Fault is associated with the Magdalena Fault System, which represents the most distal expression of the western flank of the Eastern Cordillera fold and thrust belt, with a hybrid thick- and thin-skinned deformation style.
