Abstract

UIWIAV, MARCELA. Fruitflies of the genus Dasiops (Diptera: Lonchaeidae) associated with banana passionfruitand general recommendations for their agroecological management in vereda Cañón, municipio de Sutamarchán - Boyacá. Rev. Colomb. Entomol. [online]. 2005, vol.31, n.1, pp.59-65. ISSN 0120-0488.

An identification was conducted of species in the genus Dasiops in crops of banana passionfruit where two species were found: Dasiops caustonae and D. curubae that attack the developing flower buds and fruíts, respectively. An estímate of the damage caused by these pests was 2 to 3% in flower buds and 23.7% in fruits. Trapping as a control method was equally effective as the chemical treatment. The critical length in which the flies attack was established as 25 to 45 mm. Finally, some recommendations were proposed for the agroecological management of these pests. The killing of pupae and larvae by destroying fallen flower buds and fruits, a biopreparation of basil and biological control are some of these measures.

Keywords : Agroecology; McPhail traps; Flower bud.
