This study documents for the first time, the presence of a species of Phelypera (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) boring Caesalpinia spinosa seeds. The insects were observed in fruits collected in the city of Sinop, Mato Grosso, Brazil while processing seeds in the seed laboratory of the Institute of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Field UFMT Sinop, Brazil.
