Abstract

ZUNIGA, MARÍA DEL CARMEN et al. Neoatriplectides(Trichoptera: Atriplectididae) in Colombia: Notes on its taxonomy, ecology and distribution in the Neotropics. Rev. Colomb. Entomol. [online]. 2015, vol.41, n.1, pp.149-152. ISSN 0120-0488.

Neoatriplectides is a genus with a very restricted Neotropical distribution, being limited to Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru and Colombia, where it has been reported in Antioquia, Cundinamarca and Quindío, in Andean highlands (2,500 to 3,040 meters above sea level) and few localities. Larvae of this genus have an atypical morphology including thin and retractile head, pronota, and mesonota, which are unique characteristics among known Trichoptera. This work increases the known distributional range for Neoatriplectides to the Santander department in the eastern Andes of Colombia, using larvae of an unknown species. Zones of capture correspond to the most northeastern locations in the South American Andes for the known species of the genus. Taxonomical and ecological aspects of collection locations are documented in this paper and a distribution maps included for the Neotropical region.

Keywords : Aquatic insects; Lotic ecosystems; Biodiversity; Andes of Colombia.
