Abstract

VEGA-ROMAN, E.; MARCHANT, M.  and  SANCHEZ, I.. A new symphysomely case for Cryptops Leach, 1815 (Scolopendromorpha: Cryptopidae) in Chile. Rev. Colomb. Entomol. [online]. 2022, vol.48, n.2, e12018.  Epub Nov 24, 2022. ISSN 0120-0488.  https://doi.org/10.25100/socolen.v48i2.12018.

The first case of symphysomely on the antennae of Cryptops Leach, 1815 (Chilopoda: Scolopendromorpha: Cryptopidae) from the Concepción (Chile) is reported. The right antenna of the specimen has a lower number of antennomeres, which are also larger than the ones from the left antenna. We discuss the possible factors affecting the appearance of this occurrence.

Keywords : Chile; Chilopoda; myriapods; teratology.
