Abstract

GARRIDO-ROJAS, LUSMENIA. ATTACHMENT, EMOTION AND EMOCIONAL REGULATION. IMPLICATIONS FOR HEALTH. rev.latinoam.psicol. [online]. 2006, vol.38, n.3, pp.493-507. ISSN 0120-0534.

This article aims to make a theoretical revision on the relations between different styles of attachment, emotions that characterize these styles, and emotional regulation strategies used in each one of them. It is also explained how these attachment styles develop in relation with the appearance of emotions and regulation strategies. This idea is discussed considering the main results of relevant research, and the implications of the presence of specific emotions and the use of different strategies of emotional regulation upon people's well-being and physical health.
