SIERRA-FITZGERALD, OSCAR y MUNEVAR, GONZALO. NEW WINDOWS TO THE HUMAN BRAIN AND THEIR IMPACT ON COGNITIVE SCIENCE. rev.latinoam.psicol. [online]. 2007, vol.39, n.1, pp.143-157. ISSN 0120-0534.
Imaging Neuroscience and Modern Neurophysiology have become of great importante and interest in Neurosciencies not so much due to their practical applications, but to the questions they allow to formulate. A significant paradigmatic evolution in CN seems to be taking place. That change might lead CN towards the formulation of more advanced models to understand the brain-mind relationship. Nevertheless, indulgence in successfull normal practice seems to block advance in such direction. This reflection focusses into what is perceived as a braking point in CN that either hints the resolution of a paradigmatic anomaly or prefigures a scientific revolution. Two main paradigms in cognitive neuroscience -structural and functional- are proposed as a framework to interpret the current tendency of change. Questions about the scientific practice in CN related to consensus and rationality are raised.
