Abstract

This study aimed to establish the social representations associated with hedonic consumption of food in restaurants for people from socioeconomic level 2 to 6 in the city of Bogotá- Colombia. We conducted a multidimensional descriptive study based on the results of a structured interview with open and closed questions. For the data analysis lexical-metric analysis and multivariate analysis were used. The results disclosed the central core and peripheral system of social representations associated with hedonic consumption of food, where it was possible to find personal, social and cultural factors that permitted a psychographic segmentation according to the characteristics of different types of guests found.
