Abstract
MEDINA ROBLES, Víctor M; VELASCO SANTAMARIA, Yohana M and CRUZ CASALLAS, Pablo E. General aspects of the spermatic cryopreservation in teleosts. Rev Colom Cienc Pecua [online]. 2005, vol.18, n.1, pp.34-48. ISSN 0120-0690.
The current protocols for cryopreservation of fish semen show many deficiencies in the optimization of fertility rate, and the inter and intra species variations are very high. Few cellular and molecular events have been discovered from the results found by the investigators. The processes of ice crystals formation on an intracellular level, the toxic effect of the cryopreservation and the recrystallization are shown as the aspects of most relevance in the cryoinjury. Hypothesis like the transition of phases of the lipids in the plasmatic membrane and the rupture of the latter for the rapid influx of the water are proposed to explain the cellular injury during the cryopreservation process.
