Actual situation of the knowledge about Yamú (Brycon amazonicus) This article presents and discusses the available information on yamú Brycon amazonicus, with special reference to its natural history, gonadal maturation scale, establishment and management of reproducers, induced reproduction, gametes obtention and preservation, larva culture, alevin management, and nutrition. It is our intention to present this information to aid in the building of a technological package that would eventually allow a sustainable fish culture of this and other native species in Colombia.
