Abstract

ROMERO LOPEZ, Ana María; BAQUERO MACIAS, Nathalia  and  BELTRAN GUTIERREZ, Héctor Edwin. Seedbank in disturbed sub-andean forest areas in San Bernardo (Cundinamarca, Colombia). Colomb. for. [online]. 2016, vol.19, n.2, pp.181-194. ISSN 0120-0739.  https://doi.org/10.14483/udistrital.jour.colomb.for.2016.2.a04.

The germinable seed bank (BSG) was characterized by disturbances associated with grazing and forest plantations in the sub-Andean forest of the municipality of San Bernardo (Cundinamarca - Colombia). Three coverages were sampled (forest relict, an Eucalyptus globulus plantation and pasture), by means of transects. The BSG was evaluated by the method of direct germination. The alpha diversity was calculated from the indexes of Shannon-Wiener and Simpson. The beta diversity was analyzed with the index of Sorensen. To compare the BSG in each coverage, a ANOVA analysis was performed. In total, 127343 seeds/m2 germinated in the forest relict, 44,678 seeds/m2 in the plantation and 107,747 seeds/m2 in the pasture. 22 families and 42 species were recorded in the forest relict, 18 families and 36 species in the plantation and 20 families and 40 species in the pasture. The diversity values ‹ ‹of Shannon-Wiener and Simpson and the Sorensen index were similar for all three coverages. The abundance was differed between the coverages. The BSG found is a reflection of disturbances in adjacent areas that provide seeds of exotic species mainly in the three coverages analyzed.
