This work treats the importance of the contents of the digital library and proposes some guidelines as a starting point toward user satisfaction in digital information services.  At the same time, this article, with didactic goals in minds, offers some parameters for the development of didactic contents and learning materials.  It follows that digital libraries belong in the learning environment, with emphasis on learning and content, so that users learn something new.  No pretence is made to deal with this issue in an exhaustive manner or to define concepts, but to establish a relationship between the two.
