This reflection paper presents a recount of the development of terminology in the Escuela Interamericana de Bibliotecología (EIB) of the Universidad de Antioquia, and the impact that has been achieved by this study and its application not only in the EIB but also in other institutions, through the use different kinds of documental languages and secondary information sources which base their structure on this discipline. It also shows the advances achieved in the research on this field of knowledge and its projection at local, national, and international levels.
