This paper addresses the issue of risk management in relation to a specific type of library, the university library. A bibliographic review is carried out from different fields and connects it with the reality of this kind of institutions. Also, an analysis of the interviews with the libraries’ directors of the Universidad Nacional de La Plata, Argentina, is presented. These interviews included different axes such as policies and procedures, the interest of the authorities about the topic, staff and users training, measures adopted, risk factors, among others. The results show that although some specific implementations have been developed in this sense, there is still a pending account in issues related to the implementation of risk management in Universidad Nacional de La Plata university libraries.
