Abstract
CAMPOS, Fhillipe de Freitas et al. Directory of Brazilian Electronic Scientific Journals (Miguilim): Development, Curation, Features, and Future Perspectives. Rev. Interam. Bibliot [online]. 2025, vol.48, n.2, e357709. Epub Nov 12, 2025. ISSN 0120-0976. https://doi.org/10.17533/udea.rib.v48n2e357709.
This case study focuses on the creation process of the Directory of Brazilian Electronic Scientific Journals (Miguilim), a Brazilian service coordinated by the Brazilian Institute of Information in Science and Technology (Ibict). The aim is to present the technical process of creation and initial operation of Miguilim with the Brazilian editorial community, focusing on issues related to Open Science covered by the Directory. The research is exploratory and descriptive, with a quantitative approach, using data provided by Miguilim itself for analysis. Preliminary results indicate that during the creation process, tools were developed capable of representing bibliographic data and editorial policies of registered journals in a clearer and more objective manner, which seems to positively influence the acceptance of the Directory by the community. Released in a testing phase in January 2023 and officially launched in a production environment in November of the same year, Miguilim has been widely disseminated in Brazil as a tool to locate essential information about Brazilian scientific journals, which is only possible through collaboration with the editors responsible for these journals.
