Abstract

RAMIREZ, Tulio  and  SALCEDO, Audy. Latin America and the World Production of Scientific Articles. Rev. Interam. Bibliot [online]. 2025, vol.48, n.3, e357217.  Epub Nov 12, 2025. ISSN 0120-0976.  https://doi.org/10.17533/udea.rib.v48n3e357217.

This study compares the production of scientific articles worldwide during the period 2015-2022. It is a comparative documentary study with proprietary processing of raw data presented on the SCImago platform. The results indicate that only ten countries account for most of the world's article production; Latin America and the Caribbean contribute less than 4% of the global total. However, only five countries in the region contribute more than 85% of these articles. Based on these results, it is concluded that there continues to be unequal development of research worldwide and in Latin America.

Keywords : Scientific articles; Latin America and the Caribbean; SCImago Country Rank; research.
