The oil palm industry in Colombia, first in production Latin America and fourth worldwide, generates about 11.6 to 15.1% w pressed fiber on the initial load of processed fruits, this residue has a complex structure of lignin, hemicellulose and cellulose, making it liable to be prosecuted for obtain various biotech products with high added value. In this work, we assessed the trials for obtaining sugars fermented from palm pressed fiber, making a pre-biological treatment with fungi Pleurotus ostreatus and Phanerochaete chrysosporium in solid state fermentation medium Kirk during four weeks. In the next step on this study, we make the enzymatic hydrolysis of the material pretreated evaluating two commercial enzymes (cellulase+β-glucosidase) in combination for a period of 72 h. Both the raw material pre-treated solids were characterized as to its content structural lignin and sugars. When the enzymatic hydrolysis was finish, the rate of saccharification measured was 18.4 g of glucose HE/100 g potential glucose in pre-treated fiber. The most relevant parameter is the overall yield of fermentable sugars that was calculated as 7.4 g/100 g of raw material. The results obtained confirm the potential of this waste to produce sugars applying the pre-biological treatment with P. ostreatus, which environmental and economic advantages.
