CASTRO VARGAS, Adriana et al. Wear study and electrochemical evaluation of FeMnAl alloys and AISI 316 LVM steel in simulated body fluid. Rev. ion [online]. 2012, vol.25, n.spe, pp.67-73. ISSN 0120-100X.
This study present the results obtained by comparing the corrosive properties of two Fermanal austenitic alloys Mn -22.6, Al- 6.30, C- 0.68, Cr- 3.10, Fe- 67.33 (F1) and Mn- 30, Al- 8.5, C-1, Cr -3.20, Mo- 1.10, Fe- 56.20 (F2) with the AISI316LVM steel with the purpose of determine the viability of this alloys as bony substitutions. The electrochemical properties were evaluated trough potential measures, Tafel curves polarization and lineal polarization resistance (LPR) with ringer lactate as simulated biological fluid. For the tribological test a pin on disk tribometer was used to determinate wear mark morphology. The results showed that the molybdenum addition in the F2 alloy improves substancially the corrosion resistance, the electrochemistry behavior is similar to AISI 316 LVM, therefore, the Fermanal alloys is appropriate materials for biomedical applications.
