RODRIGUEZ AGUDELO, Karen Tatiana; AGUDELO VALENCIA, Rafael Nikolay  e  CAICEDO JIMENEZ, María Claudia. Treatment of wastewater produced in the soaking process in tanneries using ozone and iron as a catalyst. Rev. ion [online]. 2021, vol.34, n.2, pp.105-113.  Epub 27-Jul-2021. The treatment of the wastewater generated in the soaking process in tanneries was analyzed employing oxidation with ozone and ferrous iron to catalyze the mineralization of organic matter (measured in terms of COD). The tests were carried out in batch mode and constant reaction time. The residual water for the tests was supplied by a leather tanning company located in the municipality of Villapinzón, Colombia. A factorial experimental design of type 32 was used, the experimental factors were the initial pH of the residual water (4.7 and 10) and the dose of Fe2+ in the water and the response variables were the percentages of removal of turbidity and COD. The results indicate that the maximum removal of turbidity is achieved by alkaline pH and in the case of COD, the greatest removal was 92.13% and is achieved for pH 10 and 10 mgL-1 of Fe2+ doses. The reaction time used for each test was 2 hours so that the ozone dose was 4 gL-1 and the energy consumption was .
