Abstract

This article pretends to articulate and to support the approaches of the Science focus, Technology, and Society (STS) in the social and educational fields on Ulrich Beck's proposal according with his individualization and reflexive modernity theories. Then, Beck's different postures will be argued and discussed, beginning with modernity, its phases (first modernity, second modernity), individualization and its relation with The Focus. Therefore, the synthesis of the article is presented in the following conceptual map, in which the relations between Beck's Individualization Theory and the focus on Science, Technology and Society (STS) are established, starting with the processes of modernization and its phases.
