CALLE GONZALEZ, Mónica María. FROM THE CAVE OF SARAMAGO TO ZYGMUNT BAUMAN'S: LIQUIDITY: TWO METAPHORS OF CONTEMPORARY AT THE CROSSROADS OF MEANING?. Escritos - Fac. Filos. Let. Univ. Pontif. Bolivar. [online]. 2013, vol.21, n.47, pp.533-545. ISSN 0120-1263.
As part of ongoing doctoral research, this paper presents a philosophical vision of Jose Saramago's contemporary analytical perspective in his work La caverna and Zygmunt Bauman from the works of the period known as "liquid", with the methodological guidance of Gadamer's hermeneutics. It seeks to clarify the specific nature of some of the cultural, social, emotional and behavioral phenomena, constituting the contemporary experience of the world (consumerism, weakening of social ties and affective dysregulation underlying institutions of western society, hedonism, moral and religious relativism, etc.), these phenomena are discussed from an optical metaphor-that of Saramago, and a physical metaphor-that of Bauman. They constitute a crossroads with respect to the meaning attributed to these dynamics, the multiple readings that are made of the same and the analytical, comprehensive and intellectual challenges that involves the debate about the contemporary (Postmodernity? Late modernity? Hyper modernity?).
