Abstract

HERNANDEZ CHUM, Pablo. The discipleship experience in indigenous Guatemala. Cuest. teol. [online]. 2012, vol.39, n.91, pp.33-56. ISSN 0120-131X.

This article deals with the experience of discipleship lived by the native k'iche' in Guatemala. It intends to give a systematic vision of life, seen from God and experienced in this culture for centuries. By doing so, it wants to offer it as a cultural heritage and reference to other cultures. The study starts with the personal experience of the author and testimonies of the inheritors who lived by this authentic spirituality. This research goes together with studies done within the k'iche' culture itself in order to enrich its identity. The natives experience of discipleship is the vision of life of the k'iche' people who read their life taking into account the interaction of four subjects: the person, the community, the creation and God, which, altogether, give life from God and inspire a lifestyle to the indigenous people.

Keywords : Experience; God; Person.
