The following paper displays a view on the history of universal ecumenism in its first fifty years of existence. It presents the stages that have been covered and the problems that have been faced. By analysing these stages, the challenges for the future might be recognised: the pentecostalization of the entire Christian Church, the dialogue with the Pentecostal groups, the healing of historical wounds, the search for new ecumenical methods and the possibility to evangelize while having the dialogue. The paper concludes with some ecumenical proposals for the Colombian nation.
